• Turner Drugs
If you’re visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and find (like I did) that you’ve forgotten one of your
prescription medications, or need a new prescription filled, Turner Drugs offers a fabulous resort delivery
service. When I forgot one of my important prescription medications, I called Turner Drugs. They told me to
call my Doctor’s office at home & have them call in my prescription. Within a couple hours, my prescription
was delivered to the First Aid Station at the Animal Kingdom. You can also have deliveries made to your
resort’s front desk. This is a great service for those who need medication in an emergency, or even if you just
need while visiting WDW. They also will deliver OTC medications if you need them and they offer medical
equipment rentals. From WDW, you can call or visit their Lake Buena Vista Location. They also have a
Celebration/Kissimmee location, which is closed on Sundays.

• East Coast Medical Network, Inc. - The Medical Concierge
Another great option that a friend of ours has used is the Medical Concierge. They have Board-Certified,
Florida-Licensed Physicians who will make "house calls" to your resort 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They
carry a small portable pharmacy & are able to do basic lab tests. Visits are made in a timely manner &
according to my friend, the doctor who visited her was very nice & very thorough. This is a great option for
those who don't have a car, or anyone staying in the Orlando, Kissimmee & Lake Buena Vista areas.

• Hospitals
We hops you don't need to go to the hospital when visiting Walt Disney World, but Florida Hospital has
locations in Kissimmee & Celebration, which are close to Walt Disney World. We had to visit the Celebration
location with a friend on our 2006 trip to Walt Disney World and we found it to be acceptable, as hospitals go.

• Blisters!
Blisters are the worst! They can really take the magic out of an otherwise perfect day. The Encyclopedia of
Alternative Medicine has a great article on treatment & prevention of blisters. Also the Unofficial Guide to
Walt Disney World has some excellent information - see "Sergeant Blisterblaster's Guide to Happy Feet" in the
"Problems & Unusual Situations" section & "Stuff to Think About" in "The Ecstasy & the Agony" section.
<READ THIS BOOK!> Their advice about using Moleskin is the best advice we've found. At this point, I know
where I tend to get blisters. I cover those spots with moleskin *before* I put on my socks & shoes in the
morning. I've found this to be very effective & instrumental in the making magical days. you know what they
say about an ounce of prevention...
• Sunburn
Prevent it! The sun in Florida is STRONG. If you're from up north like us, you'll find that the sun in Florida is
much stronger than it is up here. Read this article Fishing in the Sun is Fun – But Take Care!
By CAPT. MEL BERMAN, Florida Fishing Weekly (yes, I know its about fishing, but the information is the
same!) and this article Sunburn - Prevention from WebMD. You can also click on links for emergencies,
symptoms & treatment. Take the proper precautions & you won't end up ruining your trip. The Unofficial
Guide to Walt Disney World also talks about sunburn in "Stuff to Think About" in "The Ecstasy & the Agony"
section. <BUY this book & READ it!>

Yes, its possible to get sick at Walt Disney World, and that makes your trip a whole lot less magical. Its
happened to us more than once. We've even made a trip to the hospital while on vacation - talk about zero
magic! The tips below have helped us make the most out of some decidedly un-magical situations.
